Goodbye 2014!

This year it has been a journey for me because I am going to be a year 7 next year and I am going to miss all of the teachers that taught me. This year has been the best year of my life because the year 6 students went to Kawau Island and it was the best trip that I have been to. I am also going to miss my 4 friends which is Rowana, Jessica, Elizabeth, and Liz U. I wish you the best and Merry Christmas and goodbye.

My Reflection about 2014

Today we had to write a reflection of 2014 and this is what I wrote about this year so have a read and enjoy.

In the beginning of the year I thought it was going to be boring. I thought I was in a small class but we have a big block of year six. It is cool because you can switch classes like literacy and maths.

The first thing I was proud of the year is coming back to school to learn and make friends.The other thing I was proud of the year was when I was involved in heaps of sports. The other thing I was proud of this year is getting along with my 4 new teachers which is Mrs Garden, Mr Goodwin, Mrs Jacobson, and Mr Somerville.  The most thing I am proud of this year is becoming a year 6 and aiming for my goal.

The second thing I am proud of this year is participating with the year 5 students in our big class. I am also proud of is getting back with my best friends which is Elizabeth, Rowana, and Jessica. Another thing that I am proud of this year is going back on my netbook.  The next thing that I was proud of is when my rippa rugby team made it to the Auckland  champs and came 3rd.

What I want to work on next year is getting better at sports and learn some new skills. I also want to get better at Reading, Writing, and Maths. I also want to work on my blog and posting more post to make it creative and wonderful.

I want to thank the teachers that taught us new things and especially Mr S because he is the one that made me feel confident in everything. I also want to thank Miss Va’afusuaga for being wonderful to me at sports and everywhere. I had to say that 2014 is the best year in my life but I am going to move on to year 7 next year so thank you everyone.

A Trip to Kawau Island

It was Tuesday morning and the year 6 Point Englanders were at Kawau Island. It was our first day at camp. As soon as we were finished packing our bags, we sat in our lines and Peter and Erin introduced themselves, they were hosting us.

Then we went  on a long hike, Rowana and I were partners and we helped each other when we feel like. Sometimes we got angry at each other because we always try pulling each other down, and sometimes we laugh at someone when they get angry at others for pushing them. When we got to the top of the hill, Collin was holding a rock and made a speech for not giving up on the long hard hike. We had a little bit of morning tea and a drink of water.

When we got back from our hike, we had to get our bag and put it in our cabin. My cabin was cabin Q, and in cabin Q was Elizabeth, Ava, Quinlan, and I. After that we had a long free time, I was playing volley with Liz U, Elizabeth G, Rowana, Ashley. It was nearly night time and we were having dinner, after we had dinner we had to get changed into our pajamas and brush our teeth. When we finished doing that we watched a movie called The Princess Bride. It was a cool movie, at the end of the movie we went to bed.

On Wednesday morning we had to get up at 7:00am because we had to go for our fitness trial. After our run we had breakfast, than we started the day with some activities. Our first activity was Burma trail. Then we moved on to Orienteering, that was one of my favourite activities because Zane, Taiaha and I worked as a team to find the letters. We  found all of the letters and when the others came we were already making a word out of the letter we found, there was, Raft building, Dining and Kayak. There were other activities were abseiling, kayak, and raft building. At night time when we finished getting changed we played spotlight at night time. It was fun for the others to play but not for me because we I incidentally sprained  my ankle.

On the next day we did the same thing as yesterdays, wake up at 7:00, do fitness trial, have breakfast, brush our teeth and finally finishing of our activities. Our last activity was sailing, it was the most fun activity to do when it’s hot. After we finished every activities we had a long free time. Then we did the same thing again, eat dinner, brush our teeth and now we get to get changed for our concert and practice. It was the concert and it was time for us to perform. After that it was time for the judges to tell us who won and the winner was BENTZON so Bentzon had to perform again. Then it was time for us to got to bed.

It was our last day at camp, and were packing our bags and wait for the ferry. After that we played some games, we played Bush baseball, Swimming, Touch, and Volley. When the ferry arrived we loaded our bags on the ferry. Then it was time for us to leave Kawau Island.

It was the most fun camp in my life, when I grow up I am going to visit Kawau Island.

Camp Bentzon

This is a movie that Elizabeth and I have created about the Point England Year 6 camp to Kawau Island. There were fun activities and my favourite activities were Sailing, Orienteering, and Abseiling. The night was when we had a concert because we were performing outside. Here is a video of us at Kawau Island.

TOUCH!

On Friday morning, it was finally our touch tournament and Mr Somerville was our coach. When we finished getting ready, we went down to Dunkirk, we thought that some schools were already there but we were the first school to be there. As the others was setting up the Gizibo my friends and I warmed up.


As soon as most of the schools got there the games began. The first school that we played against was Tamaki Primary. At the end of the game the referee announced that we won by 8-0. Our next game was Glen Innes. It was our finals and we won all of our games, at the last games we were playing against Glenn Taylor. It was pretty hard because some girls were pretty fast, but anyways the hooter went and we won the finals, then we asked the year 5 team if they won then they said Yes. Then that means both Point England teams are champions.

Halloween

On Friday the 31st of October, when school finished my 2 sisters , my little brother, my parent and I went to Mangere for Halloween. We stayed at my aunts house but, My older sister and my older cousin said that they will take us for Halloween. First was was dressed as a ghost and my little sister was a witch but my little brother was Spider Man. When we got back from Halloween, we watched a movie called The Monster House and ate Lollies. When the movie finished we were so tired so we slept over my aunts house. I can't wait till next year for Halloween because I am going to be dressed as a witch and we are going to Otara.

Man on the Moon

We read a book about a boy making a moon mask for the Art festival Parade.After  that, we had to get into 3 groups and in my group was Elizabeth, Mubashir, and I. Getting a New Netbook

It was Wednesday and Morning tea was finished. As I walked inside our maths class, Mrs Jacobsen called me to come. "Guess what" she said, "What" I replied, You guys are going to get a free new netbook" " What" we said with excitement, then we had to go to the staff room to see Mrs Tele'a. Mrs Tele'a told us we will get it after lunch time. So after lunch time, I walked through the breeze and saw heaps of brown boxes. When we sat down in the hall, the Variety boss talked about how they give netbooks out for free. After she finished talking they gave out netbooks to kids from different schools around our area. It was finally our turn to get our netbooks now, when they called out my name I stood up and got my netbook and walked on the stage. My cousin Iron was next to me she was so nervous but I wasn't because I am happy that I have a new netbook. I was so blessed to have a brand new netbook. Thank you so much Warehouse and Variety!

How to be a good Point Englander

Today we had a practise for our Writing test and we had to write about how to be a good Point Englander. If you want to be a good Point Englander, here are some tips if you want to be one, So enjoy.

Being a good Pt Englander is when  you help people that needs help and taking good care of them. You can help the little kids on their school work and how to cross the road. You can also teach them new things that they don’t know. But you can not only help little kids, you can also help adults and old people on their work and do something for them like making them a cup of tea and more.

PARAGRAPH 2

If you want to know how to be a good Pt Englander, you would have to listen to adults around you and respect them. If you listen to them and respect them, they will teach you how to be more respectful,  taking care of of people, and helping people.

PARAGRAPH 3

How to be a Real Pt Englander? Well being a Real Pt Englander  you have to stop people from fighting and arguing.  If you see people making fun of others, teasing them, and calling them names, you can tell the teacher or an adult or you can stop them.

CONCLUSION

If you want people to be like you then you have to show them how to be Respectful around others. If you would like people to think that you are amazing,  you can show them that you are respectful to people and can Cooperate with others around you.

How to stay safe in the sun

Do you want to know how to be safe in the sun? Well you need these things to cover you in the sun ,a hat to cover your face, Sunblock for your skin so you don’t get sunburn, Sun Glasses to cover your eyes and good clothing to cover your skin as well .

First is hats, you need to have the right hat to cover your head and face. Hats that have soft material is not good because the sun can still go through it because it’s too soft. You need a bucket hat or a good hat that's hard to keep you safe.

Second is Sunblock. Sunblock is good for your skin because if you want to stay at the beach for long you must have Sunblock on. If you don’t, then too bad, you will get Skin Cancer or Sun Burn. But if you do, then you are free to play in the sun including you hat.

Finally the Sunglasses, Why is it important to wear Sunglasses? Sunglasses are good because it can cover your eyes from the sun. It is good because when you look at the sun, the sun shines at your glasses and then it bounces back off.

It is the most important thing to stay safe in the sun. You must wear a hat, use sunscreen and wear your sunglasses to you safe. So, when you go out, always remember to use these three things!

Going on a trip to Rotorua Spa Pools

It was 5am in the morning and we were packing our bags because we were are having a trip with our church to Rotorua Spa pools. We went in the bus and it took us half an hour to get there. When we got there we waited for the BBQ to get cooked because it was a long way. After we ate we played a game called capture the ball which is a bit similar to capture the flag. 20 minutes later  it was 4 all and we wanted to play Finals. When I got in the triangle their were 6 of us and we made a plan that my brother runs the other side with the ball and we run as a group on the other side and pretend the we have the ball. The referee was counting down and we splited up and went different directions . When my brother passed the cone with the ball we won. We had heaps of lollies  and Chocolates. It was time for us to have a swim in the hot pools but I didn't because I forgot to bring my swimming togs. After we had a swim it got darker and we were packing up to go home. On our way home we were sleeping in the car . It was the most amazing day in my life and next time I want to go there again with out forgetting my swimming togs.

White Sunday

White Sunday was during the holidays and we were excited because it was our first time in our new Church. Whites Sunday is all about celebrating kids and everyone , in Samoa Kids have to walk around the church a few times before they enter the church by lucky us we only have to do it once. This is a piece of writing that I wrote about White Sunday!!!!

“Yay it’s finally White Sunday” Shouted my little sister , it was the 12th of October and we were on our way to Our Church (Pakuranga Baptist Church). “Isn't that cool Sis” “NO!!” I shouted back to my Sister. As we sat in our places it felt like I was gonna vomit. Then we had to go and stand outside and wait for the song to play.  

When we finished the welcome song , it was the the younger kids turn to say our ‘tauloko’ which is means ‘play’ in Samoa. It was my turn and I was the Reader . After we did our play we sang our song it was the seniors turn to do their play (there were two plays) After the two plays we sang a few songs and finished with a prayer.

My best part was that it was finished and the lolly scramble. I can’t wait till next year because were gonna learn some more plays and sing some more songs.

Ripper Rugby and Rugby Champions

It was Wednesday morning and the year 5 & 6 girls Ripper Rugby team and the 2 rugby boys team is having a tournament at Dunkirk. When we finished getting ready, the girls went in the van , but the poor boys had to waste there energy on walking a long way to Dunkirk. Since us , the girls got there , our coach said " Girls lets set up the Gizibo and put our bags on it so the boys think that we can do it", So we had to do it.
By the time the boys got there we were already warming up , then some of them Said " That was quick".


After our coach , Miss Vaafusuaga , got back from the managers meeting, she announced that we are playing against Panmure Bridge School first. Panmure Bridge school was already on the field but we were still finding out who were the 7 starters, then our coach said it and then she said " Our captain will be Taunese " when she said that I was feeling a bit funny. The game started and Elizabeth and I already had 2 tries, It was the end of the game and we won by 9 , 0. We had another game coming up and we were playing against Tamaki Primary School . Half of my team thought that they were hard , but the other half thought that they were easy, then I said " we don't know yet because we haven't played them."


We Finished having a game against Tamaki and Sylvia park school and we won both of them.Then we went straight to Semi-finals against Panmure bridge. Our coach left Elizabeth and I as Sub to save our energy for the finals because Panmure Bridge is so easy. When the game finished we had a break , after we had some lunch we went to watch the Spartans finals against Tamaki primary boys. It was a pretty hard game because Tamaki boys was good as our boys, while our coach was watching the Spartans Finals we went and played kicks we our team mates, the alarm went and we heard the boys shout with excitement because the won the finals and they are going to the championship tournament. At last it was our finals against Tamaki, we were on and the game started to get harder , I didn't want to run with the ball because the other didn't have a turn so I passed it to my team mates. The alarm went and Elizabeth already has 4 tries, the score was 7-1. We were so happy that we but it wasn't the end, all of our teams made it to the championship tournament but now it's not Ripper rugby it's Rugby.


Our coach said that everyday we will have training everyday for the Championship. It was the year 5s first time going to the Championship tournament and some of them are scared and some are nervous, even the other year 6s. But Elizabeth , Rowana and I are just used to it and we are looking forward to it.

Champions

On Tuesdays after school we always have Netball games against other schools. But our games are finished and we are so happy that we came 1st in our section and today we are going to the prize giving. Next year the netball games will start again and find out who will be the champions for 2015.

A Trip to Samoa

Paragraph 1

It was nearly the holidays in New Zealand and Rowana , Elizabeth , Ashley and I are planning to have a trip to one of the Islands. “Which island are we going to” said Ashley “New Zealand” said Rowana , “Were already at New Zealand dumb” Said Elizabeth “ I Know Samoa” Said Ashley. “ Okay , well go next week on Monday” I said. “lets meet at the airport at 1:00pm”

Paragraph 2

“Wow it looks amazing” Said Elizabeth as we were walking out of the Plane. “ Where are we going to go ” said Ashley . “I know!” Said Elizabeth as she left us, “ Lets go to Savai'i first” as she turned to the left , “Um Elizabeth, Savai’i is the other way”,I Shouted, but she was already gone,“ She doesn’t know where she’s going,” I said. “come on lets go to my aunts house,” I said. The others were following me to my aunts house, when we got there my aunty said “You guys have to share one room,” She said. “ that's Cool,” Ashley said “I wonder where Elizabeth is,” Rowana said

Paragraph 3

“shall we go to the beach now, it’s so hot, It feels like i’m gonna burn,” Said Ashley, “Okay lets go” “wait,” said Rowana “ I forgot my bags at the airport,”

“Oh My Gosh, Take care of your stuff,” said Ashley

“now you are going to spend your own money on new things,” “ and don’t ask me for any of my money” than we left to go to the shops to buy some things for “Rowana”. When we finished buying things for Rowana we went straight to the beach.

Paragraph 4

It was our last day at Samoa and my aunt gave us 2 big packet of Banana chips and a big packet of bread fruit. Then my aunt dropped us to the airport and went. While we were waiting we saw Elizabeth , she was tired and funny looking. We gave her a packet of chips , then Ashley said , “where were you?’’ the whole week I was here” she said. “Come on lets go back to New Zealand.

Tuis Learning about Samoa

This week our reading group Tuis have made a movie about Samoa.We have learnt the Capital city of Samoa which is Apia and what are the similarities between Samoa and New Zealand . The similarities of Samoa and New Zealand is that the New Zealand map is Bigger than the Samoas Map.My group is so lucky that I have helped them learn about Samoa and learn things that we used to do in Samoa when I was little. When we were filming that was when they knew that I was a Samoan.

THINGS THAT I DON'T LIKE
We had to work as a big group because they wanted to join in.
The hard thing was that the others wanted to do what they want so we had to disagree with them.
But the good thing is  that we finally finished our movie because it took us hours and hours to get it done.
But next time I would try what they want and see if it's good then we can use it.
So I hope you enjoy and learnt some new things.

Chapter One Blood Sport

Once there was a girl named Victoria Jaden  and her friend named Juliet loved to do sports. Mostly Football,Rugby and Basketball. One day while Victoria and Juliet was in class there was a call out and it said "there is football training for any year 5 & 6 boys and girls at lunch time at the bottom field Thank you"  "Should we go to the trials" said Juliet "Of course" Victoria replied. It was lunch time and on the bottom field there were lots of year 6 & 5 at the bottom field. First they did trials and then a game, at last the coach called a name of kids that made the team, the good news is that Victoria made the team but her friend Juliet didn't.
"sorry you didn't make the team" said Victoria, "it's okay but good luck tomorrow" said Juliet..........

All About Rugby

Did you know that the Rugby sevens was invented in 1883!!
The Rugby Sevens is held at Scotland. The 2 teams that was in the finals was New Zealand and South Africa but South Africa Won the Finals for 2014. There are only 7 people allowed on the Field.

All about Swimming

Today I learnt that swimming was invented in 1804 Wow that was a long time ago. I have made a presentation about swimming and there are some interesting facts,Hope you enjoy.

World War 1

Today it was Monday and we had a important assembly celebrating the 100th years of the World War 1. I have learnt that lots of families lost there family members is sad. The mens had a long way to get where the war was and it took weeks and weeks to get there because they were travelling in boats, ships, and planes.It took 4 years for the World War 1 to finish which is 1914 to 1918. More countries joined one of the 2 sides.


The countries that joined were Russia, France, British Empire, Italy, United States and More countries.
When the World War 1 had finished the mens were so happy to come home and see there families again but it was sad that they were injured and had to walk in walking sticks. But it was sad for those who have past away and been killed because they never get to be with there families anymore. Here is some pictures of the World War 1, But Here is a word that we always remember, Lest We Forget.

High Bar Animation

 

We read a story of a young girl that joined the High bar crew. When it was her turn she was too scared to do it. She thought that the bar was going to eat her. She tried to make friends with the bar and get used to it and it worked, then she did it and she failed. She said on the next year she will be better and much more confident.

On the next year she tried it and her goal was to do 5 giants. It was her only chance to make it in the team so she did 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 and on her last round she did 5 giant at last. Her coach said to stop but she couldn't she wanted to do more. It was much better because she had a rubber band.

My Holiday Highlight

Today we had to write about our holidays and explain what we did.

“YAY IT’S FINALLY THE HOLIDAYS” it was the first day of holidays and I am packing my bag because me and my little sister is going for a sleepover at my aunt’s house . When my aunt arrived at our house, they picked us up and went, first I thought we were going straight to our aunt’s house but we were going to Papakura to buy some Popcorn and chips and more Junk food                  .

When we got at our aunt’s house, my older cousin turn on a movie for us to watch. We were watching How To Train Your Dragon Part 0ne , it was so cool that we get to watch and eat Popcorn or Chips. My little sister loved the movie but I didn’t because I have watched it too many times,so instead of watching the dum movie,I played on my cousins Laptop.

On the next day, it was my cousin’s 21st Birthday, it was held at Valentines Restaurant which was in Pakuranga . I thought that Valentines Restaurant was the best store ever because all the foods they had was “FREE”. After the amazing party we went to buy some Mcdonalds at Otara , I was so full that never ate Mcdonalds, all I ate was the Ice-cream,  and played on the park .

It was Wednesday morning and the sun was up, but I wasn’t, I was in bed been lazy to get up. When I woke up I washed my face and went to the kitchen, when I got to the kitchen my breakfast was ready. I had a big custard pineapple pie and cup of milo. I stayed at my aunt’s house until Sunday. My parents came to pick us up, we had to go because we are going into a New church.

What I enjoyed in the holidays was going to the Valentines Restaurant and eating lots of food. I wish next school holidays to be fun and better.

My Super Hero Narritive

Today we had to make up a narrative of a super hero.
here is my story that I wrote ,hope you enjoy.

No one never knows my secret. My name is Victoria Diva but I call myself THE LIGHTNING GIRL. I can change my lightning colours and every colour has a power, the blue lightning is for frozen,the orange lightning is for burning, green is for poisonous, purple is for big warts, and red is for lava, white is for can’t breathe, and  black is for darkness. I am a normal girl that lives with  my parents in a dark place.

When I was little I dreamed to have lightning powers and it came true and I had lots of powers and it was so Powerful. “Boom”   “what  was  that,” someone said, black clouds covered the blue sky and it began to get darker like it was night time. Something went through the dark clouds, then I noticed that someone was coming.

After I heard the sound I knew that we were in trouble so I ran home and put on my lightning suita and ran back. When the bad guys showed themselves, I used my blue power to freeze him but I missed him. I then used my red powers and I red lava trapped him, and just in time the police arrived.

After they they said thank you they went and took the bad guy, Whatever you need help, Lightning Girl is always here to help.

Hot sunny day

“OUCH , OUCH” I screamed out loud. It was a very hot day and we were at the beach. As I was walking on the sand it felt like my feet were going to burn. I quickly ran to the water, “ahhhhh” it was much better.  Knew I should have brang my jandals.

My Titanic Explanation

This term we are learning about buoyancy, this includes what happened to the Titanic how it crashed.

So have a read and I hope you enjoy.

“Crash” as the Titanic went through the ice berg. Lots of people froze to death. Titanic came from Southampton to New York which was in America.

Titanic was the largest ship ever built in 1912. She had 2 classes,on top was  the first class which had big spaces and had there own bath in their rooms because they payed a lot of money.At the bottom where it was noisy, they had partys,in there rooms they didn’t have enough rooms because they didn’t pay much money.

People didn’t have good places to live in so they payed the money to get to New York.On the third night, Titanic was still travelling, they came to a very cold place where there were ice.The captain didn’t see a big iceberg. A few minutes later a big sound came from outside,suddenly they saw icebergs fell down on the Titanic boat.water came in the boat and it made the other side even heavier, than it broke and sank.Some people  jumped out and swam to the lifeboats.

If there were lots of lifeboats then there will not be many people froze to death.If the captain listen then they will totally make it to New York.If the the people were fair, then nearly everyone will be alive.

The Lightest Wood in the World

 Today we learnt all about the Lightest Wood in the world,
it's called The Whau Tree.Its green and brown. The wood is so light. You can make some boats out of it and a house or any kinds of things. It has lots of seeds and the possums always eats it.

Badminton

Today we had Badminton,our instructor Dave, tout us lots of skills and games that was part of badminton.It was fun and I have learnt a lot skills from Badminton.

Titanic

When the Titanic crashed into the Iceberg on April 15th 1912,everyone swam out in the freezing water and froze to death.There were 2,223 people on board and 705 people survived.She was the largest ship ever built on that day,and guess what, they built it in THREE YEARS!!.It came from Southampton to New York.It was built so that  so that people could get to a better place to live.Here is a picture that I drew on Hyperstudio.

All about my Holiday

It was my little sisters birthday in the holidays.we had so much fun so have a look and I hope you enjoy.

Guess what I did in the Holidays?First we went to chipmunks at Pakuranga,we went there because it was my little sisters birthday.I went on the big slid,when I went down it was so cool.

Then we went to the McDonalds, we had a big feed.After that we went to my brothers rugby game at Pakuranga.It was so cool that they won Against Pakuranga!

Finally we got  home and had a party with our cousins and Aunts and uncles.We had BBQ,Ice Cream Chocolate Cake and Lollies.

At last since we were so tired and had  a big day,we went to sleep.It was so fun and hopefully we would have another party like that.here is my paragraph rubric that I marked.

Noah The Moa

Did you know that there's hardly any Moas in New Zealand?But if there was a Moa , I would keep it. So I won't have to walk to school everyday. If I didn't have a bike , instead ,I would use Noah the Moa to ride around the city.Here is a beautiful picture of Noah The Moa .

1.Start from Pt England then turn north
2.Then you go through the round about then go straight to North.

3.When you get to  G.I there is another round about to go through
4.Then turn west and go under the bridge and go up.
5.When you get up on the round about,turn west to go past Varsity
6.After you have past Varsity go down and on the east you will see the Netball court.

Why do we use Knife and Fork to eat with

In Our Litreacy class we had to write about why do have to use a knife and fork to eat with.So here is my explanation that I wrote.I hope you enjoy.

Introduction

Have you ever used a Fork and Knife to eat with? If you haven’t used Fork and Knife to eat with,then your hands would be so sticky and really dirty.It would be a really bad idea if you went on a computer, because you will spred the germs if you touch thekeybords.

Keeping clear and clean

If you don’t use a fork and Knife then you will spread the germs.If you won’t use a fork or knife to eat with,then you will get germs in your mouth and it will make you sick.

Food pieces

Do you know what bite-size  pieces?They are pieces that are small enough  to fit in your mouth and easy to chew.If you don’t use a knife and fork to cut big-size pieces to little pieces,then you choke or get a sore throat.

Manners

Have you ever used your manners before?It is always important to use your manners so that you can get things that you want.

My Statistical Inverstigation

Last week we were finding I was finding out What is the lowest temperature during the morning on the 10th, 11th and 12th of February.

So I found out that the lowest temperature was on the 11th of Feb and the highest temperature was on the 12th. 

I conclude that during summer the temperature is mostly always around 25 degrees.

The best graph to show this data is the last one because, it displays the data more clearly.

Sunflower

Today in the morning our literacy group planted some sunflower seeds. My Partner and I took turns by putting Soil in the pot and putting the seed in the dirt. I think our Sunflower will grow because we already left water in it.
