All about my Significant place

Today in Social Studies, we were to write about our significant place with 3 reasons why. Like I said before on my other significant blog post, my significant place is my village in Samoa; Lauli'i. 

The place that is significant to me is .... My village in Samoa - Lauli’i because … it is the place where my genealogy birthed. It is the place where my ancestors were born and were raised up, coming down to my parents as well as myself and my older siblings. This significant place of mine is the place where my identity started and thrived since I was born until I moved to NZ in 2005. It provided myself food, especially cultivation food from our family plantation. Lauli’i provided fresh water…. Provided shelter where I lay as a child and warmth from the sun. Most of all my village gave me love that I now give to others as well as the knowledge that they passed down to me that I now use. Although I haven’t been back but I still remember everything that this place has done for myself and my ancestors. This is why Lauli’i is my significant village because it was where my life started as a young child experiencing life.

Above is a paragraph I wrote myself about my significant place and why. Below are my 3 reasons about this significant place of mine.

Aesthetic:
Aesthetic means beautiful. I believe that Lauli'i is the most beautiful part of Samoa. The lush green branches and the blue, clean waterfall within the village. The houses that are built in the village are also beautiful surrounded by beautiful colours of the flowers that decorates the presence.  

Historical:

One historical moment that I never forget is having this place as my birth place. Aswell as my ancestors. It is the place where my ancestors were born and raised up to be who they are as well as myself until I reached 3 years of age when I had to leave. But this place is history. Many magical things has happened at this place. Wars, celebrations, birth and much more. 

Cultural:

Lauli'i is a cultural place. People in this village has shown cultural values aswell as our very own village values. Like loving each other, when they need help... a hand is lent by neighbours. Showing hospitality to visitors from overseas. These values are being shown by the people in the village and it defines cultural is cherished and sustained in the village. 

Will Smith's Well Being

Describe what is happening in the video with links to Will Smith’s well-being:

Emotional/Mental well-being:
Uncle Phil awarded Will Smith with a season ticket to the clippers for his impressive behaviour lately. Will was very happy with the award he had received. But then he knew that he didn't deserve it because he was hiding something he had been hiding that was unacceptable to his family and for his health. Will immediately was emotional because he had to confess something that Uncle Phil wouldn't expect from him. 

Spiritual well-being:
Uncle Phil wanted to award Will with his achievements from school. He wanted to save the tickets for Will's graduation but he was too happy with Will's recent achievements so he awarded it early but it turned out that Will didn't deserve it. 

Social well-being:
Will Smith lived with is Uncle's family who cared about him, especially his health. Will was surrounded with people who loved him who treated him as their own son or brother. When Will told his family that he's been taking pills, his family reacted with disappointment and surprise because they cared for Will and his health. When they saw Will was sorry for what he did, they forgave him. 

Physical well-being:
Will told his family that some boys at his school gave him pills for him to take in order for him to be awake. Uncle Phil and his family weren't happy with Will's choices of keeping pills because it'll affect his health. It could also affect his actions on the basketball courts.  

Explain what positively or negatively affected Will Smith’s well-being:
Will was very fortunate to have a family who cared about his well-being. But Will made wrong decisions off keeping his health well. He accepted pills from students at his school because he thought that the pills would help him keep awake at his basketball training and games but he didn't know that the pills could do so much more. Affecting his health. He told Uncle Phil about what he had done after he was awarded for his achievements, and Uncle Phil got mad at Will because his actions was unacceptable. Taking in things that weren't good for his health and his sons health too. 

My Significant Place: Samoa: Lauli'i

Today in Social Studies, we learnt about the meaning of significant. I learnt that significant means importance and noteworthy. We had to write about a place that is significant to us. Below is a paragraph of mine about my significant place. My village in Samoa: Lauli'i.
