My Olympic Animation
As you all know this team's focus for this term is all about the Olympics. This is my very own
animation that I created using hyper studio on apple flat screens. I have animated my athlete
Valerie Kasanita Adams competing in her sport, shot put, I have also put on a voice over
to explain some of the things that I know about Valerie Adams. Watch and enjoy:)

Hiwi the Kiwi
This is a piece of writing that I have completed about some visitors that has been fishing in their whole life. Read to find out what I have been through and learnt about fishes and maybe you can learn something as well.
Yesterday morning we had visitors from the far north. They work for the Hiwi the Kiwi company, where they travel around New Zealand and teach young kids about fishing. Well this time they came to Point England School and taught us heaps of things about fish and birds. We also sang songs about kai moana (sea food) and had heaps of quiz questions.
The part I mostly enjoyed learning about was fishes. I learnt that... when we catch a fish from the sea water, we have to clean it with salt water because if we don’t it will taste yuck after it’s cooked. Also when we catch a fish from the sea water, hold it with a wet towel or else it’s scales will come off and will get sick if was put back in water. I also learnt that in New Zealand it’s illegal that we are not allowed to catch and take fish that is measured under 30cm long. This is because the baby fish needs to get bigger and if they keep taking baby fish there, won’t be fish for everyone to catch. If we do we will get fined. Also we need to take a water gun to scare away birds that are near as well.
When fishing, we have to make sure that we take, life jackets in case something bad happens while fishing. Cooler for the ice to make sure that the fish stays cool when the it is caught. Ruler for the fish to be measured if it’s alright to take home. Mike made a suggestion that if someone on the boat catches a trophy fish, they’ll have to put it back in the water so it can breath(in case it has babies). I really enjoyed this show because it has taught me heaps of things that I don’t know and maybe I can use it when I go fishing in the future. Thanks to Mike and Kris from Hiwi the Kiwi for coming in and share what they know about fishing.

Lisa Carrington
This is a presentation that I have created about one of New Zealand's best
athlete, Lisa Carrington. She was the 1st female out of the NZ 2016 Olympic
squad to win 2 medals. She won a bronze for 500m and a gold for 200m canoe
sprint finals. This presentation is about Lisa Carrington and you will sure find
what you are looking for. Have fun learning facts about Lisa Carrington.

Olympic at Rio
This is also 1 of the unfinished task that I have started but didn't get the chance
of finishing. This presentation is about the Olympics held at Rio. Some of the
slide are about the top news I think there was during the Olympics.
Road to Rio
This is 1 of our reading activity that I wasn't able to finish and now I've finally
got the chance to complete and post this. It is called " A bumpy road to Rio",
behind this title, this is actually about before the Olympics started there were
some things that weren't settled in Rio de Janireo.
Olympic Narrative
This is my olympic narrative writing that I have been working hard on this week.
By the help of my teacher and friends I was able to complete this. You can read
it on my presentation above or underneath
It was the summer Olympics at Rio de Janeiro 2016. In the Maracana stadium, the women’s pole vault finals was the most popular. This was to happen after the men’s 100m finals.
There were 4 top pole vaulters battling. Sam McCarney from New Zealand, Sandy Morrison from America, Alayna Boyd from Australia, and Eterini Stefanie from Greece. There were only 3 spaces available but 1st place was what they were all after!
Sam McCarney and the other 3 talented athletes were battling against each other. Sam McCarney was worried that she wouldn’t get the chance to represent New Zealand on the podium. It was Sam McCarney and Alayna Boyds from Australia battling for the 3rd place jumping 4.80m. First it was Sam Mccarney, “LET’S GO FOR BRONZE” her coach Kris yelled from the sideline. She had butterflies in her stomach.
As she was getting ready for her final attempt, words suddenly started to repeat in her head “I can do this, I can do this”. As the words faded in her head, she ran in full speed with pole in hand. The pole had been stuck in the ground and Sam had leapt in the and over the horizontal bar. When she had done this without hitting the pole, she straight away put on a relaxed face (while she was in the air). “She did it!!!” the speakers went loud.
After Sam Mccarney had settled down, it was time for Alayna from Australia. When Sam Mccarney saw that Alayna had knocked down the horizontal bar, the 19 year old fell on the ground crying. She then stood up and proudly held her New Zealand flag behind her body ready for the photographers to deliver her photos . After the top 2 finalist had finished it was time for the medal ceremony. On the podium in 3rd place, there stood Sam Mccarney proudly representing her country with a bronze medal. In 2nd place was Sandy Morrison from USA with a silver
medal, and last on the top of the podium was Eterini Stefanie from Greece with a gold medal. Sam Mccarney couldn’t wait to get home and show off her bronze medal that she had won from pole vault.

Silicon Valley future talk
This morning one of the 2 top students from Tamaki College came to motivate our Yr 7 & 8 students to what they have done. Gabrielle and Saia, were the 2 students from Tamaki College that were selected to go to Silicon Valley(America) with some other students in New Zealand. Before they left New Zealand, they came to talk to us and inspire us that, "if they can do it, then we can do it". Andrew Patterson was the man that planned the trip and he was also here to support the 2 selected students. When they got back they sounded more interested and more motivated to what they've been through. The places they visited were, Facebook, Google, Stanford University, Instagram, Yelp, Khan Academy, Xero, Ideo, Apple, Microsoft, and Twitter. Some of the places they named, were the places that I've never heard of such as Xero and Ideo. As they showed the movie, they went to a baseball game and slept at a flash hotel. They even visited the prison of Alcatraz which was the best secured prison in America surrounded by cold water and violence security's. But in 1962 three prisoners escaped without known. It was cool having 2 students speaking the future into us and telling us that we can do it.
