Term 3 2016 reflection

This  is my reflection for term 3 2016.

Highlights of the term

In term 3, I had heaps of highlights. Some of my highlights was getting to know teachers more and making more friends. Also I was happy to run more games for our school which is part of our house council. I also enjoyed my school learning because I have been improving more than I have in term 1 and 2.

Memories  Events/Trips/Visits

I don’t think we had events or any trips this term but we did have unexpected visits from Hiwi the Kiwi, the new eel book launched at our school, and more that I’m not sure of. But the visit I enjoyed most was the Illuminate from the states. Their costumes glowed in the dark while they did their hip hop performance. I created happy memories and I won’t forget them.

Friends/funny moments

My friends and I created a lot of memories throughout the term such as hanging out and laughing together. I also got along with the year 7’s because we didn't get along in the first 2 terms, but we had a good time together. The thing I enjoyed doing with my friends was playing touch or rugby, looking out for each others backs, helping little kids enjoy their day, and singing songs while I play the guitar.

Sports(Netball and more)

This term was the last season for our netball games. I started playing netball in year 4 but this was the last year I played for Point England before I go of to college. My friends and I have been playing in the same team since year 5 to now and we called our team sorority, sisters. We had some happy moments and sad moments. Our loving coach from 3-4 year past away from cancer. But we had great moments together like winning the B grade twice in a row.  Our tag team won the Tamaki cluster girls tag grade. We also won the mixed netball team and came second in the eastern zone year 8 girls grade. We competed in the Auckland Champs and had fun. I look forward to more games.

Goals for term 4

Next term will be my final term in intermediate and Point England School. My goal is to learn as much as I can so I won’t suffer in college. As always lead others to the right path they
belong. I am going to join all sports and enjoy it like I always do in the past 4 years at Point England School. I will make sure my teachers are happy the way I act and think. I will also make sure I am not late to school in the mornings and still catch up with my school work. Last of all I will spend most of my times with my friends and have heaps of laughs, and  create memories together before we split of to our colleges. Term 4 will be the best final term!

College life trip at Tamaki College

Yesterday morning us year 8 Point England students arrived at Tamaki College early in the morning. We walked in the school auditorium(hall) and sat on chairs ready for our host to welcome us. Mrs Moore welcomed us and introduced our student host, she also told us about our timetable for the day. The reason why we were at Tamaki College for the day was because our teachers wanted us year 8’s to experience how college life is before we are year 9’s next year.

I was in group B and our first class was social studies with Miss Apelu, it was pretty emotional. We looked at how kids travel to school around the world. While I was looking at the photos Miss Apelu casted on the screen, I felt sorry and bad for the kids. They climbed the cliffs, walked with their school uniforms in the river, travelling on ice, walked on a broken bridge, and kids walking on small paths on the cliffs. I walked to school with chills in the morning, but I finally looked at other kids having problems travelling to school desperate to learn.

Then in the same class we had mathematics with Mr Sharma, it was fun. We looked at how  many meters we walked. I walked 2.03km yesterday by walking to Point England school and walking to Tamaki College. We then played Kahoot online where Khaia won overall. We went out to play shape shifter where we had to make the shape that was called out by using our bodies. Tevita, Toma, Josh, and I won.

It was time for interval. This was one of my highlights because our host provided our food. We had a water bottle, apples, bar, and a jelly snack. My friends and I finished our snacks and chose to walk around the school. As we were walking around the school, I saw that they just sit, play handball, play loud songs and play on their phones. Where at our school we play with sport gear. The bell rang and we went to our normal technology classes in Tuesdays, their interval was only 20min. In graphics we drew Tongan kahoa and learnt some Tongan facts.

We then walked back to the auditorium for lunch. This time the student host provided us subway, apples, water bottle, and a bar, it was delicious. We had more time to explore around the school and inside the class hall. The bell rang again and we were off to our english classes. My class was B4 and we had Mr Tuuga Stevenson. I learnt that in college english classes we read first, write, then create. It was one of my highlights. At 2:20pm we had Physical Education at the Tamaki Recenter. We played heaps of fun games like tiggy but a different version.

We walked back to the auditorium to finish off our day. This time the deputy principal Mr Dunn, dismissed us. It was one of the best days I had for the year. I can’t wait to attend Tamaki College next year because I noticed that everyone treats each other like their family members.  Thank you Tamaki College!

doping. I chose Marion Jones because she was famous using the steroids "the clear".
This is my report news about Marion Jones doping.

4 years of training

Image result for paralympic moments
At literacy this morning, we had to choose a picture and write a narrative about it. I chose a Paralympic photo because it was easy to explain. I used TOPS to write my story.
Starting: Nathan William is from Great Britain. He made the men's 200m Paralympic sprint finals, held in the Maracana stadium. This event was happening after the women's Javelin finals where Emily Spares from USA won gold. After the women's javelin throw it was Nathan's chance to win for Great Britain.

Nathan William had the disability of losing both legs, with the replace of 2 robot legs. In the finals, all other sprinters had 1 robot leg which made Nathan frightened. Nathan had 4 years of training but turned up in the finals not having the confidence to serve his country well.

But then Nathan thought of the words his mother gave him in times he needed help. " Believe in yourself". So Nathan used these words as his motivation, he was back on track. He wanted to use the 4 years as his confidence on track and disability problems. He also remembered the reasons why he was at the Paralympics .... to represent his one and only country, to make his family proud, and make the 4 years of pain worth it.

"BANG!!". The gun went and the sprinters were gone like a bolt. "Believe in yourself", the words kept on popping in his head. The 100m mark was past and Nathan William was coming 2nd. Nathan pushed himself to lead the race even though it was painful , but was worth it. The USA sprinter gave up his 1st place to Nathan William and came 2nd. But before the finish line was past, Nathan William lifted his hands with pride because he knew the gold medal was coming his way. The finish line had been past, Nathan William received his gold medal with pride knowing there country and family was proud!

For our reading task this week, we had to edit a google drawing showing information
about 1 of athletes the was caught doping. I chose to do Marion Jones because
she won heaps of medals but wasn't worth it. Her name got caught in heaps of
bad situations like lying about her using pills to keep her strong.

Using different sentences

This week in our literacy class, we had a reading and writing activity. This is our
writing activity that I completed with a help from my brother. I learnt that there
are different kinds of sentences in a piece of writing. While completing this
presentation I learnt that a simple(1 of the sentences) sentence can only have 1
word, like READY! There are 2 photo's in this presentation and for each photo
I wrote 2 paragraphs using different kinds of sentence structures.
